This is your permission slip to take time out and explore yourself and your creativity in a safe and welcoming online space.
What it’s all about…
When we experience traumatic or painful situations in our lives, we tend to detach from our bodies as a way to feel safer and more able to cope with these difficult things that we’re not equipped to deal with.
However, this coping strategy actually leaves us feeling even more unsafe and ill-equipped to deal with the inevitable challenges we face in our lives.
Somatic practices offer us a way to come back into our bodies, to reconnect and feel safe, so that we can process the trauma and emotions stored in our bodies. That way, we can start to heal and feel whole and happy.
So where does writing come in?
Writing is an amazing way to explore the thoughts and emotions that are swirling around inside us. Not only that, but it’s a way to take time out just for ourselves, process our experiences, feel nourished and experience joy.
Somatic writing has the added benefit of combining all of the beautiful things about writing, with the healing, transformational and wellness-boosting power of somatic embodiment.
What’s involved?
Somatic Writing Circle is a Patreon membership for anyone who would love to explore and reconnect with themselves and their creativity through writing.
When you join, you’ll get access to:
Weekly writing prompts, creative exercises and journalling exercises,
A new short somatic embodiment practice each month to help you connect with your body and senses,
A private WhatsApp community to connect with your fellow writers,
And the best part… a fortnightly LIVE somatic writing class!
The live classes will be recorded so you can return to them again, or catch up if you’re unable to attend the live session.
You’ll be able to get support and ask questions in the private WhatsApp group. My hope is that this group will also become a space where you can share your writing and swap feedback with other members of the group if anyone feels inspired to take their writing further than these classes, but this is entirely optional!
There is absolutely no pressure whatsoever to share your writing or anything else with the group during classes or outside. It’s just a safe space for you to delve deeper into yourself and (re-)discover your creativity and your love for writing.
Hi, I’m Anna.
I’m the founder of Happy Note, choir leader, workshop facilitator and multi-passionate creative practitioner.
I’ve been writing for 15 years in a professional and personal capacity and am trained in a number of wellness modalities, including somatic movement and dance, yoga and trauma informed care.
Writing and somatic movement were the only things that enabled me to get through an incredibly difficult time in my life last year. Now that I’m, thankfully, through the worst of that time, I want to share the benefits I experienced with as many people as possible.
We’ve all experienced trauma at some point in our lives. The repercussions of this trauma can have huge knock on effects if we don’t have the tools to be able to process them and heal.
My desire with this class is to help you develop a tool box that you can call upon at any point throughout your life when you need to, as well as finding new ways to express yourself, explore who you are at a deeper level and generally experience more joy through your body, your senses and writing!

The details
Day: Live writing classes on fortnightly Tuesdays.
Time: 8-9.30pm BST.
Location: Online.
Donation: Three tiers available, pay what you can afford.
What you need to bring: your preferred writing tools (could be a journal or notebook and pen or a laptop, or even a typewriter!), wear clothes you can move comfortably in.
Any other info: This info is just for the live classes - the other resources each month will be posted on Patreon for you to work through whenever suits you.
